Those were the words the man told me in the Portland CrossFit gym as I complained about being too old to endure the pain. I looked for some unwanted fat on this guy, but I was unable to see an ounce of it. I soon learned that he is a nationally ranked CrossFit athlete, and I also discovered that he is older than me! He was also correct; it is NEVER too late to start exercising.
I am discovering my potential as I come to terms with my age. Sure it hurts, I feel the results of my efforts for days (in my thighs!), and I understand that I will never be 20 again. To quote Toby Keith, “I’m not as good as I once was, but I’m as good once as I ever was.”
In just a few short weeks I’ve pushed myself beyond my imaginary limits and you can too! Any type of exercise will help, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t suggest CrossFit MF on Warren Ave in Portland. Drew and Seth are great trainers and this program works EVERY muscle in your body.
Get off the couch, challenge yourself, and see how good it feels AFTER you work out. If I can do it, you can too. It’s never too late!
